Gunshots fired at home in Perry Barr as police launch investigation

West Midlands Police is investigating after shots were fired at a home in Perry Barr. Officers were called to reports of gunfire on Walsall Road in the early hours of today, Monday, July 8.

Walsall Road is one of the busiest commuter routes into and out of central Birmingham from the north of the city and the Black Country, and was sealed off into Monday afternoon. Forensic officers remained at the scene, as residents told our reporter of hearing a "loud bang" in the early hours of this morning shortly before police sealed off a pavement outside their homes.

A manhunt was underway for those responsible, and officers were scouring CCTV from the area. The force confirmed no-one was injured.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We are investigating after gun shots were fired in a street in Perry Barr.

We were called to an address in Walsall Road, Perry Barr, just after 1am today (Monday), following reports of a firearms discharge.

"Thankfully, no one was injured. We are reviewing CCTV footage and carrying out enquiries to identify who was responsible.

"Officers will be present and carrying out patrols in the area, as we know how concerning this incident is for the community. Anyone who has any information, or may have dash cam footage, is asked to contact us.
