Gurkhas march on Downing street in support of hunger strikers demanding pensions equality

Scores of Gurkhas marched on Downing Street today (August 18) in solidarity with hunger strikers demanding pensions equality. Gurkhas who retired before 1997 get a fraction of the pension British-born members of the army receive. Gurkhas have a long history of service in the British Army including in two world wars. In the past 50 years, they have also served in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Borneo, Cyprus, the Falklands, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan.
