Gushing Steve Evans blown away by 'best ever' Birmingham City
Steve Evans spent the build up to Rotherham’s clash with Birmingham City, goading the big-spending promotion favourites.
More than a week ago the Scot got in an early jab when he described Chris Davies’ team as ‘Real Birmingham’, a reference to the star-studded approach of European champions Real Madrid.
Then on Thursday he even called them ‘Galacticos’ after a transfer window that saw Blues smash the League One record by adding Jay Stansfield to a squad of quality players.

And having seen his side summarily dismissed at the New York Stadium, after first half goals from Stansfield and Tomoko Iwata, Evans was even more impressed.
He said: “They’re the best League One team I’ve ever seen with the way they pass and they move. They are a terrific side full of good young players.
“We have absolutely no excuses. We couldn’t touch them. They were much better than us. I thought we were poor in spells but started well. Their goal was against the run of play.
“We changed it at half-time and were more disciplined. We were well beat. I am not going to make any excuses. Our season will not be defined by a defeat by Birmingham. We’ve learned lots of lessons. We will regroup and get ready for the next games.”
