Gusting Rain Lashes Motorists During Tornado-Producing Storm in Vermont

Intense wind and rain pummeled New Haven, Vermont, and the surrounding area on March 26 during a storm that produced an EF1 tornado, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

At least two people were injured and several homes damaged when the tornado touched down in nearby Addison and traveled northeast for approximately a mile, local reports said.

Video filmed by storm chaser Ethan Moriarty captured an intense burst of wind and rain as he drove on Ethan Allen Highway during Friday’s storm.

“This downdraft nearly took me off the road. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was associated with the tornado,” Moriarty wrote on Twitter. Credit: Ethan Moriarty via Storyful
