Demi Lovato has thanked Gwyneth Paltrow, she of the exploding vagina candle, for a sensual self-care box after the pansexual artist dropped her new album.

Lovato’s new album Dancing With The Devil… The Art of Starting Over dropped on Friday (2 April), coinciding with her docuseries of the same name and the release of the music video for her song “Dancing With The Devil”, which recreates the night of her 2018 overdose.

Taking to Instagram the next day, Demi Lovato showed off some very special gifts from Gwyneth Paltrow, appropriately accompanied by one of her new songs titled “My Girlfriends Are My Boyfriend”.

She wrote: “‘Wow wow wow! Thank you Gwyneth Paltrow! You’re a real one.”

The box contained products from Paltrow’s infamous “wellness” shop Goop, which has repeatedly come under fire for promoting products which are bizarre, overpriced, misleading or sometimes even harmful.

Lovato’s box included a Sandoval Interior Aromatic room spray, containing rose quartz crystals to “lend some love intentions”, a bottle of Nécessaire Sex Gel, a lube which apparently has a “cushiony” formula, and a Goop double-sided vibrator – “one end has a wonder-ball wand with deep, rumbly vibrations for external stimulation” and the other has a “slim, flexible end to provide powerful and precise vibration”.

But the pièce de résistance was a personalised “This Smells Like Demi’s Orgasm” candle. It is unclear whether the scent was personalised for the singer, or whether Paltrow simply put a new sticker on her $75 candle.

The Goop orgasm candle was a sequel to Paltrow’s famous “This Smells Like My Vagina” candle, which last year exploded in a UK woman’s living room, causing a vagina-scented “inferno”.

Paltrow has also released a third candle in the series: “This Smells Like My Prenup.”

The prenup candle smells like a “gorgeous blend of invigorating grapefruit and sexy, citrusy bergamot with supple notes of ripened raspberry subtly interlaced throughout”, and is “also good for burning legal documents”.
