Ross Barkley’s Everton future remains unclear despite the fact Gylfi Sigurdsson is set to complete a £45million transfer to Merseyside.

The Toffees boss Ronald Koeman announced at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon that the 27-year-old Iceland international has passed his medical.

"I have seen the doctor and there is no problem," said Koeman. "Still he needs to sign, but I saw him in the Blue!"

Tottenham will gain £4.5m from Sigurdsson’s move to Goodison Park due to the 10 per cent sell on clause agree when negotiating his transfer to Swansea in 2014.

And Spurs could yet profit further from the move, should Barkley head to the capital.

Standard Sport understands that Arsenal and Chelsea are also monitoring Barkley’s situation, though Tottenham have been interested in the player since last December.

But Barkley is expected to be sidelined for six-weeks with a hamstring tear, and whether the injury would impact any potential moves, Koeman refused to divulge too much information.

"There is no update on his future,” he said. “I will wait until the end of August."
