Home and Away star Ada Nicodemou has admitted that she actually gave advice to Chris Hemsworth before he headed to the US, warning him not to get his hopes up.

Hemsworth played Kim Hyde between 2004 and 2007, and since leaving the Australian soap he has found huge success, featuring in movies such as The Cabin in the Woods, Star Trek, Rush and Snow White and the Huntsman.

Oh, and all of the Thor and Avengers movies.

Nicodemou, who stars as Leah Patterson-Baker, revealed during the documentary Endless Summer: 30 Years of Home and Away that she wanted to slightly temper Hemsworth's expectations.

"Chris was over at my house – I think it was the week before he went overseas – and I'm like, 'You might not make it'," she recalled.

"[I said], 'I've seen so many people go over there and they haven't made it, so don't get your hopes up. Just, you know, look at Naomi Watts. She was there for ten years. It might not happen'.

"Sure enough, I think he was there for like six weeks, and then it happened.

"So now every actor before they go to the States are like, 'Can we just have the Ada talk?' Who knows what the secret is?"

Indeed, Hemsworth looks likely to add to his ongoing success as he was recently spotted filming the new Men in Black spin-off in London.

Home and Away airs on Channel 5 in the UK.
