Hailey Baldwin accused of treating pet 'like a puppet' after 'shaking' dog in Instagram post

Hailey Baldwin has come under fire after posting a video in which she appears to ‘shake’ her pet dog, Oscar.

The model, who confirmed news of her marriage to Justin Bieber in November, shared a clip on her Instagram Stories which showed her dancing with the Maltese Terrier, moving the pet’s face towards and then away from the camera lens.

She captioned the video “Don’t worry, he loves it,” attempting to reassure fans that the dog was happy with this treatment.

Her followers, however, seemed to be less than convinced by the 22-year-old’s words, as they flooded her recent Instagram posts with critical comments, accusing her of treating the puppy “like a puppet.”

“Please, Oscar is not a toy! Oscar is a living creature also @haileybieber!!!” one wrote, before asking the model: “Would you like to be treated like that?”

“Don’t do that with your puppy, I don’t think he’s ‘liking it,’” another advised.

“I like you Hailey and wish you the best,” one follower wrote. “But please stop exhibiting your little dog as if it is a puppet. We don’t need to have a show of Oscar. Oscar is a sentient being. Let him be.”

“How do you know the dog likes it?” another asked. “To be shaken like a puppet? Poor dog!”

Following the negative comments, the model deleted the post from Instagram.

Standard Online has contacted Baldwin’s representatives for comment.

Baldwin and her husband Bieber adopted Oscar before Christmas, and have been proudly showing him off on social media since.

The couple launched an Instagram dedicated to the puppy, with the handle @OscarBieber, in December.
