Hailstones Pelt Austin Soccer Stadium

A destructive hailstorm did not deter fans of Austin FC awaiting kickoff of a delayed match at Q2 Stadium late Sunday night, September 24, video shows.

The National Weather Service (NWS) had warned that strong thunderstorms moving across the area were carrying gusty winds and potential hail up to tennis-ball-sized. Major League Soccer (MLS) reported that the “inclement weather” had delayed the start of the game.

Sean Mack filmed this footage from Q2 Stadium on Sunday night as fans of Austin FC rallied and waved flags during a weather delay. The match, which had originally been scheduled for kickoff at 9:55 pm, did not begin until after midnight on Monday, according to MLS.
