Hailstorm Causes Severe Damage to Nose and Cockpit of Austrian Airlines Plane

A hailstorm caused severe damage to an Austrian Airlines plane traveling from Mallorca to Vienna on Sunday, June 9, images show.

Austrian Airlines said the plane was badly damaged mid-flight by hailstones after being caught in a storm the cockpit crew said was not visible on the weather radar.

A mayday emergency call was made during the flight, but the plane managed to complete its journey to Vienna International Airport. All passengers were uninjured, the airline said.
