At least 1,419 people were confirmed to have died as a result of the magnitude-7.2 earthquake that hit Haiti on August 14, according to the country’s civil protection agency.
Footage streamed live on August 16 show the damage caused in Aquin, a town in the Sud department on Haiti’s southwestern coast.
More than 6,900 people from Sud were injured, the civil protection service said.
