Halle Berry Finally Explained Why She Dropped Out of Kim Kardashian's New Legal Show
"Things happen for a reason."
After abruptly leaving Ryan Murphy's upcoming legal drama, All's Fair, Halle Berry is giving fans some clarification on why bowed out of the show. Well...sort of. During the premiere of Netflix's upcoming thriller,The Union, Berry spoke about her exit from the series, which will star Kim Kardashian and Emmy-winning actress Glenn Close.
"You know, things happen for a reason," Berry told Entertainment Tonight. "[But] I would have loved to have been there with those ladies, and I know it's gonna be great."
"[It's] Ryan Murphy! I mean, you know, duh," she added. "But, next time!"
Just one week after it was reported that Berry would join the cast alongside Kardashian and Close, Berry pulled out of the series. A source close to the situation told Variety that Berry was no longer involved in the project because of a scheduling conflict.
Murphy, who is at the helm of the show, which follows a female-led law firm in Los Angeles, previously described the project as “a high-end, glossy, and sexy adult procedural" to Deadline. Murphy tapped Kardashian to be a part of the show after she starred in Murphy's American Horror Story: Delicate. Murphy—who is a writer, director, and producer on the project—appeared on an episode of The Kardashians to pitch the show to Kim.
"Kim is the world's best, most expensive divorce lawyer in the world," he explained of the plot. "When you're going through a divorce, I would imagine that you're very close to your lawyer and you tell them everything. It has what Sex and the City has, which is girlfriends. It has a bond of women trying to get through an experience together."
