If you are looking for Halloween fun for kids (big and small) this month then there's one spot not too far from the city that might be the answer.

The colourful Kelburn Castle in Ayrshire is once again going all out this spooky season with plenty of fun on offer for people of all ages.

The whimsical castle, known for the many stunning psychedelic murals that cover its walls, is found close to Largs (about a 45-minute drive from Glasgow) and is offering not only a spookier Halloween Pumpkin Party for all the family but also a scare maze for the older kids.

Running from Saturday, October 12 until October 20, there will be pumpkin picking and carving, as well as marshmallows to roast, Halloween games and competitions and even a ghost hunt.

Tickets are priced from £9.50 and entry times are allocated for the pumpkin patch and carving, but the party is open from 11am until 4pm (grounds 10am until 5pm). You can find out more on the website.

Also, the infamous annual Kelburn Haunted Forest scare event is back, with this year's offering being dubbed Blight.

The immersive scare experience brings to life a story about the world after a problematic drug was dumped into the forest, causing a worldwide blight and creation of the blighted.

A spokesperson said: "You will find there is an uneasy sense of calm but groups must be sent onward to the final extraction zone but the path is not safe nor easy and they must escape unscathed or risk turning into one of the Blighted."

Tickets start from £22.50 per person, you can book tickets now via the Kelburn website.
