Hamilton Accies set to sign Ayr United goalkeeper

Hamilton Accies are set to make Ayr United goalkeeper Charlie Albinson their first signing of the summer.

John Rankin's side are preparing for life in the Championship next term after winning promotion from League One earlier this month, thanks to a 5-3 aggregate triumph over Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the play-off final.

And the first addition to the squad since that success is set to come in the form of Albinson, who would replace regular Accies No.1 Ryan Fulton after he left New Douglas Park for an expected move to Scottish Premiership side Hearts.

Lanarkshire Live Sport understands the 27-year-old shot-stopper has been offered a two-year deal and will complete his move once his contract with the Honest Men expires on May 31.

Albinson, 27, made 22 appearances for the Honest Men last season, helping them stay in the Championship, and he is now set to come up against his former side in the division next season. He had been at Somerset Park since July 2021 when he joined from English Conference League side Southport and started out his career in the youth set up at English Premier League champions Manchester City.
