Hannah Cockroft won her third gold of the World Para Athletics Championships in London as she cruised to victory in the T34 400 metres.

Cockroft was defending the title she won in Doha two years ago and also bidding to become a 10-time world champion.

And the 24-year-old maintained her perfect record at World Championships, adding a third London gold to her seven previous triumphs across meetings in Christchurch, Lyon and Doha.

Speaking ahead of the race, Cockroft said: “Lucky 10. I’m feeling pretty confident. The 400m is my favourite event.”

Cockroft has enjoyed great success at the London Stadium and hopes it will not be the last time fans can watch her on the track where she also won double Paralympic gold in 2012.

Responding to reports London is in the frame to host the Para Athletics World Championships again in two years, she said: “It would be great to come back in 2019. It’s a no-brainer for so many of us.”
