Hapless dog rescued after getting head stuck in wall in Thailand

A hapless dog was rescued after it was found with its head was stuck in narrow hole in the wall. The brown pooch was believed to have been lost in the middle of tall grasses after wandering inside a vacant lot next to a school while looking for food in Phayao province on June 29. Desperate to find a way out, he poked his head inside a narrow pipe to see what was on the other side of the wall but ended up being stuck. Locals saw the stray crying while struggling to pull his head out without success so they called the animal rescuers for help. Pensri Chan, a volunteer from the Tha Wang Thong rescue team, said: ‘The dog appeared to be fatigued as it was sticking its tongue out. We don’t know how long it had been stuck there but we had to take it out as quickly as we could.’ The team first poured water on the dog’s head so it could be refreshed for a bit before being given some to drink as it was a hot afternoon. They then lathered oil on the dog’s neck and head hoping to slide it out but without success so they decided to chisel parts of the pipe and widen the gap. After almost an hour, the dog was freed without injuries. It was given food by locals who took the animal with them for adoption.
