What happened in The Teacher series one? Channel 5 drama returns with new cast
It was the much talked about drama that made its debut on Channel 5 a few years ago, as The Teacher makes its return on Monday night, many viewers have one burning question - what happened in series one?
As the time she also had millions of people on the edges of their seat in ITV drama No Return, Sheridan led The Teacher cast as Jenna Garvey, a school teacher accused of sleeping with one of her students, Kyle Hope. The big issue, other than what she's been accused of is that Jenna couldn't remember anything from the night in question, plunging her into turmoil as she tries to piece things together while she's placed in the firing line.
Jenna was arrested by police on suspicion of sexual activity with a minor, with her life then falling apart as she was formally charged and the press had a field day with the story. As viewers were left unsure with how things would pan out, the third episode of series one saw things turn on their hands when it turned out that 'Brian' the new man in Jenna's colleague Pauline's life, was actually Arnold Cleary, a teacher Jenna worked with at a different school with a serious grudge to bear, after she reported him for inappropriate behaviour with a student.

Arnold was arrested over the allegations and was intent on ruining Jenna's life for her part in what happened to him, posing as Kyle's tutor and getting the youngster to carry out his plan to bring her down. The final episode of The Teacher series one saw Jenna and Arnold have a face to face confrontation, as he tried to convince her she was as bad as him, before he stepped out in front of a speeding car to end his own life.
One of the final scenes saw Kyle and Jenna cross paths as he proudly told her he got a level 9 in English, but the ending had some viewers complaining they'd 'wasted four hours' of their life watching all the episodes, as others argued the finale left too many 'unanswered questions.
Sheridan isn't back for The Teacher series 2, with the lead role this time being taken on by former EastEnders star and Strictly winner Kara Tointon, as married art teacher Dani Oxley, who starts an affair with one of her colleagues with dire consequences, as a pupil goes missing on a school trip, while the two are meeting in secret.
