The Happy List 2019: The Independent launches its search for the UK's most inspiring people

The Independent is once again opening nominations for our annual celebration of people whose kindness, bravery and dedication make the UK a better place.

Now in its 11th year, the Happy List shines a light on the great Britons whose extraordinary efforts are for no personal gain, and who often go unrecognised outside their own communities.

We need your help to find the people who deserve to be celebrated. All we need are a few details about the individual you are nominating: their name, a way to contact you (or them), and the reason you’re putting them forward. Nominations from all corners of the UK are welcome, for people of any age.

They could be charity fundraisers, foster parents, environmental campaigners, youth mentors, or simply those who have done extraordinary things to help others.

You have until midnight on Sunday 16 June 2019 to nominate. The selected entries will be revealed on the Independent later this summer.

The Happy List is brought to you in partnership with the online fundraising platform GoFundMe. Helen Dagley, Head of PR and Partnerships at GoFundMe UK, said: “Every day we see thousands of examples of people taking action to help others and fundraise for good causes on GoFundMe. Along with the many other Britons that the Independent Happy List celebrates they are the real heroes of the UK and so we're delighted to be partnering with the Independent to help shine a light on their amazing work and acts of kindness.”

Terms & Conditions: UK residents only. Nominations close at midnight on Sunday 16 June 2019. Individuals cannot nominate themselves. There will be 50 successful nominees who will feature on the Happy List 2019 which will be published online at independent.co.uk. Those whose nominations have been successful and will feature on the list will be notified by Tuesday 25 June 2019. The list will be published in August 2019.
