Harborne 'avoid the area' warning as house fire erupts on residential street

Emergency services asked people to avoid part of the city following a house fire on a residential street. The blaze erupted on Hunstanton Avenue in Harborne on Sunday, September 15.

Four fire engines were in attendance. Crews were called to the scene at 2:09pm.

The severity of the fire and whether there were any injuries was unknown. Crews remained on site just before 3pm.

West Midlands Fire Service said: “We currently have four crews in attendance at a house fire on Hunstanton Avenue in Harborne. Please avoid the area to allow crews to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.”

The crews were from Woodgate Valley, Smethwick and Ladywood stations. Hunstanton Avenue is a residential stretch just off Hagley Road West.
