'Hard to Breathe': Three Rivers Fire Smoke Discolors Skies in Capitan, New Mexico

Smoke from a large wildfire filled the air in Capitan, New Mexico, as firefighters battled the blaze on April 26.

“Kinda crazy over here in Capitan. We can’t stay too long because it’s kinda hard to breathe. Very smoky,” David McMinn says in this video showing the extent of the hazy conditions.

The Three Rivers Fire prompted evacuation notices for several areas near the Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico’s south, as the wildfire grew to more than 4000 acres.
