Harlesden stabbing: First picture of man knifed to death by gang in road attack

John Dunne, Justin davenport

This is the first picture of a man stabbed to death by a gang who blocked a busy road as they carried out the attack.

Meshak Williams, 21, was set upon by the men in Harlesden High Street just after 9pm on Tuesday. The gang arrived in two cars and held up traffic — including a No 18 bus.

Mr Williams staggered to a betting shop and collapsed.

He died in hospital yesterday. Last night, his family gathered at the crime scene, but were too distraught to speak.

A woman told the Standard: “I knew him when he was younger and he was a lovely boy. He didn’t get himself in trouble.”

Detective Chief Inspector Glen Lloyd, who is leading the investigation, appealed to people on the bus to contact police. Seven men were arrested on suspicion of offences including possession of an offensive weapon and attempted murder. In a separate incident two men, aged 19 and 21, were recovering after being stabbed outside a shop in Leytonstone High Road last night.

Witnesses to the Harlesden murder should call 020 8358 0100 or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
