Harrison Ford became a real-life action man when he rescued a woman who had lost control of her car on a California highway.

The Hollywood actor, 75, was spotted pulling over to assist a driver who had veered off Route 126 in Santa Paula, California on Sunday.

Proving that he can be a hero both on and off screen, the Indiana Jones star was one of several people to stop when they noticed the grey vehicle drive off the side of the road and down an embankment.

According to TMZ, the driver was then transported to a local hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.

The Star Wars actor helped out in a similar situation back in September when he got out to help during a road collision in New York.

Ford assisted with diverting traffic when a crash caused congestion near the Midtown Tunnel.

The keen pilot has also had a number of hairy moments while flying his own plane, narrowly avoiding disaster earlier this year.

Back in February he nearly collided with a passenger plane carrying 116 people after he accidentally landed on a taxiway.

"I’m the schmuck who landed on the taxiway,” he was heard telling the traffic control tower following the incident.
