The 52-year-old comedian hosted the show for 11 years from 2001 to 2012 and is keen to see the popular programme on TV again, but with guest presenters.

Speaking at the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home fundraiser Collars and Coats, he told Digital Spy: “I wouldn’t do TV Burp again.

"But I think they should bring it back with someone else. Someone mad enough to do it! Maybe guest presenters.”

Harry is enjoying his latest show, Harry Hill’s Tea Time, which is a spoof version of cookery shows and features the presenter mocking his special guests as they make ridiculous recipes and deep fry household items.

He added: “I would like to get Nigella [Lawson] on, and Heston Blumenthal - because we look like twins.

"It works best when it’s someone who is known to people as quite serious that we can take the mickey out of. Deborah Meaden was fun because she’s really like a headmistress.

"Paul Hollywood was on, Jason Donovan and Joey Essex - which was a meeting of minds - not.”

Harry’s comments come just weeks after he admitted TV Burp was going “downhill” and insisted it was the right time to take the show off air.

He said: “I know that if we’d kept doing ‘TV Burp’ it would have gone downhill. People would have been over it. And actually the ratings were beginning to go down and it wasn’t quite the must-see programme that it was.”
