The England talisman’s future is currently subject to huge speculation, with expectations that he may push for a move away from Spurs in the event that Jose Mourinho’s side miss out on Champions League qualification once again this season.
Tottenham currently sit seventh and six points adrift of the Premier League’s top four with only seven games left to play in 2020/21, with the under-pressure Mourinho admitting after Sunday’s 3-1 defeat by Manchester United that it will be “difficult” for his side to even make the top six this term.
By contrast, United - who kept their remarkable away record intact with a typically strong second-half performance in north London on Sunday - are now making clear progress under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and are poised to finish as runners-up to runaway leaders Manchester City at the top-flight summit.
They are also nearly through to the semi-finals of the Europa League, boasting a 2-0 lead over Spanish side Granada ahead of Thursday’s last-eight second-leg clash at Old Trafford.
And Keane believes those strides made under Solskjaer make United an attractive proposition for Kane, who, if he does decide to push for a move away from Tottenham, is likely to find his options limited with only a select number of clubs in world football able to afford the huge fee Spurs would inevitably demand for their talisman.
United are also likely to be in the market for striking reinforcements this summer, particularly if the influential Edinson Cavani does not stay beyond the end of his one-year contract that expires in June.
“For Kane, he’d be looking at this United team today, and listen they’ve made progress over the last 12 months, and surely must be thinking: ‘I could be the top man at Manchester United up front you know?’” Keane - who believes United still possess a “huge pull” for potential big signings despite a post-Sir Alex Ferguson decline - said on Sky Sports.
“With the service he’d be getting, Kane must fancy United. I think Kane fancies United, I just have that feeling that he fancies United. Just a gut feeling.”
