Harry and Meghan go public

Britain’s Prince Harry and his American girlfriend Meghan Markle made their first formal public appearance together on Monday. The couple held hands and watched a wheelchair tennis match at the Invictus Games in Toronto. They appeared relaxed, turning around to chat with spectators behind them. They had both appeared at the opening ceremony at the weekend but sat apart and were not photographed together. This included comment pieces which Harry complained had a racial tone. Markle, a divorcee, is a native of Los Angeles whose father is white and mother African-American. She told Vanity Fair magazine earlier this month that she and Harry were in love, her first direct comments about the relationship.
