A royal expert has speculated that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may feel differently about missing the 2024 Trooping the Colour ceremony.

Both Harry and Meghan were notably absent from this year's annual celebration, which marks King Charles III's birthday with a grand military parade.

While Prince William and Kate Middleton graced the occasion with their presence, Harry and Meghan were absent. The expert suggests that Harry might harbour regrets about not attending.

Speaking to The Sun, Richard Fitzwilliams commented: "I think when it comes to military matters Harry has always taken an interest, I think that he does unquestionably view the way the break has occurred with the Royal Family. Which, as I say in my opinion, is the fault of the Sussexes."

Fitzwilliams further added: "We know they wanted an apology from the Royal Family for the way they were treated when they were senior working members of it. They certainly won't get that. But I do think there will be a certain amount of regret."

The commentator highlighted the significant role the "military has been a very important part" of Harry's life, reports the Mirror, highlighting his two tours of duty in Afghanistan from 2007 to 2008 and 2012 to 2013. Richard also confessed that he "would have thought it only natural that he would have had a feeling of some regret [not being at Trooping the Colour]."

In contrast, Richard expressed a different opinion about Meghan, stating that "Meghan would be indifferent to a ceremony like Trooping the Colour quite frankly".

He admitted having "no idea whether she would or wouldn't actually watch it," and doubted if it "think it would mean a great deal to her".

He pointed out that "if it had done, she would have managed to carve a position within the Royal Family where she could have been of use."

Despite Harry and Meghan not receiving an invite to Saturday's Trooping the Colour in London, Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, Kate Middleton, Princess Charlotte, Prince George and Prince Louis were all present.

Neither Harry nor Meghan made it onto the guest list last year either, with that Trooping the Colour marking the beginning of King Charles' reign. It remains uncertain whether Harry and Meghan would have attended if they had received an invitation.
