The new cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has been announced, with their first performance in the show set for May 24.

The current cast will perform for the last time on May 21. Jamie Parker and Noma Dumezweni will leave the show, as will Evening Standard Emerging Talent award nominee Anthony Boyle.

Jamie Glover, who starred in Waterloo Road, takes over from Parker as Harry Potter, whilst Rakie Ayola will play the part of Hermione.

Thomas Aldridge, who is currently in Les Miserables in the West End, will play Ron Weasley, and Downton Abbey star Emma Lowndes will play Ginny Potter.

Theo Ancient and Samuel Blenkin will play Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy respectively, with both of them making their professional stage debuts in the show.

James Howard, who is an original member of the Cursed Child company, will play the role of Draco Malfoy. Current company member Helen Aluko will play Rose Granger-Weasley.

Rehearsals for the new cast begin today. When the show opened last year, Evening Standard critic Henry Hitchings described it as “a magical experience” and awarded it five stars.
