That’s one trip that’s going to require a lot of floo powder: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is going to Broadway.

The two-part magical mega-hit, produced by Sonia Friedman and written by Jack Thorne with JK Rowling, opened to rave reviews at the Palace Theatre last summer. It will open at the recently renovated Lyric Theatre in New York in Spring 2018, with the official opening on April 22. Dates for preview performances are still to be announced.

The production recently broke records at the Olivier awards, with a haul of nine awards. Jamie Parker (Harry Potter), Noma Dumezweni (Hermione Granger) and Anthony Boyle (Scorpius Malfoy) were all awarded for their performances. Casting for the new production will be announced in the coming months.

The Lyric Theatre has undergone a major transformation for the American premiere of the play, which has seen the building get a complete redesign.

Fans across the pond will only be able to buy tickets via the show’s official website, with more details to be announced soon.
