Harry Potter fans not happy with JK Rowling's comments on Dumbledore and Grindelwald's relationship
It may have been 12 years since the last Harry Potter book was published, but author JK Rowling is still delivering nuggets of trivia from her franchise.
Since the last novel was released in 2012, Rowling has done everything from confirm the sneaky way she made sure everyone knew how to pronounce Hermione Granger's name, to announcing wizards used to poop themselves where they stood. (Yes, really.)
But one of her most controversial announcements has been that Professor Albus Dumbledore was gay and in love with fellow wizard Gellert Grindelwald.
Fans were initially angry that the reveal was made after her books had been published, with nothing ever being acknowledged in the novels.
Even when Fantastic Beasts 2 was released, featuring younger versions of Dumbledore and Grindelwald, the films did nothing to rectify this – with their relationship only being alluded to in the most euphemistic terms.
Taking to Twitter, Potterheads everywhere have accused Rowling of trying to diversify the universe after publication.

I have the exact same reaction to JK Rowling trying to retroactively diversify the Harry Potter universe as I do to James Cameron promising four Avatar sequels. Nobody asked for this.

I wish JK Rowling would just leave Harry Potter alone, she damaged the franchise with The Cursed Child and she keeps just writing her own fan-fiction, why not just include that stuff in the original book series? She's damaging a loved franchise in order to stay relevant, sad

People are rightly taking the piss out of JK Rowling for her ridiculous post publishing announcements about Dumbledore's sexuality & imaginary sex life. Unless there's an editor's note or some gay sex scene she was forced to cut out then she's simply vying for attention.

"Their relationship was incredibly intense," Rowling said during the 'Distinctly Dumbledore' feature on the Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald Blu-ray.
"It was passionate, and it was a love relationship. But as happens in any relationship, gay or straight or whatever label we want to put on it, one never knows really what the other person is feeling. You can't know, you can believe you know.
"So I'm less interested in the sexual side – though I believe there is a sexual dimension to this relationship – than I am in the sense of the emotions they felt for each other, which ultimately is the most fascinating thing about all human relationships."
