Harry Potter star Tom Felton caught speeding in £200k Ferrari

He played Harry Potter’s sworn enemy — and speedy Quidditch rival — Draco Malfoy in the film adaptations of JK Rowling’s books. And perhaps actor Tom Felton should have stuck to his broomstick rather than take his supercar for a spin, after being prosecuted for speeding on a London motorway.

The 34-year-old was caught by a speed camera while at the wheel of his Ferrari 488 Spider on a stretch of the M4 last summer. Felton has a taste for fast cars, regularly posting pictures of his top-end motor on Instagram, and he turned up to the 20th anniversary Potter reunion in a £180,000 Lamborghini Urus.

Court documents show Felton was caught out by police at 12.46am on June 25 last year, as he drove westbound at 46mph along the M4 in Brentford.

A Met Police case worker told Lavender Hill magistrates’ court Felton had been written to at his Fulham home about breaking the 40mph limit, and the actor “confirmed (he) was the driver at the time”. The speed camera image of the actor’s car, a limited edition 2019 Ferrari valued at more than £200,000, was included in the evidence.

Felton did not enter a plea or offer any mitigation for breaking the speed limit. He was given three points on his licence, a £220 fine and £124 in court costs and fees at a behind-closed-doors sentencing hearing on January 5.

Felton played Malfoy in the franchise, Potter’s school nemesis and the seeker on Slytherin’s Quidditch team. He appears this year in Save the Cinema alongside Jonathan Pryce and has tried his hand as a musician under his Feltbeats label. He had a health scare last summer when he collapsed during the Ryder Cup celebrity tournament. Felton later reassured fans he was on the mend.

Felton will be ordered to pay a total of £344 from the speeding case, and informed by the DVLA of three penalty points on his driving licence. The Evening Standard has contacted his representatives for comment.
