Harry Styles Jokes to New York Crowd About 'Spitgate' Controversy

Pop star Harry Styles made light of the recent ‘Spitgate’ controversy, involving actor Chris Pine, at a show at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, September 7.

Video recorded by Twitter user @2011satellite shows Styles jokingly tell the New York crowd that he had popped “very quickly to Venice to spit on Chris Pine.”

The comment relates to a recent viral video that appears to show Styles spit on actor and co-star Chris Pine during the premier of ’Don’t Worry Darling’ at the Venice film festival.

The video prompted a response from Pine’s representatives, denying the online speculation. “This is a ridiculous story, a complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation,” the rep told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday.
