Harry Styles in mourning as stepfather Robin Twist passes away

Harry Styles is in mourning after his stepfather Robin Twist passed away this week.

Twist, who was married to Styles’ mother Anne Twist, lost his battle with cancer aged just 57.

A representative for Styles, said: “Harry’s stepfather, Robin Twist, sadly passed away this week after a long battle with cancer. “The family asks for privacy at this time.”

Styles shared a close bond with Twist who helped raise him and his sister Gemma during their teenage years and is reported to have been supportive of their relationship from the word go.

“I was always asking mum if he was coming over. But she wanted to make sure Gemma and I were okay with him being around,” he revealed.

“She worried a lot so I used to text him and tell him to come over.”

The 23-year-old singer was best man at his mum Anne’s wedding to Twist in 2013 and the pair celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary just weeks ago.

Singer Styles gave a speech at the wedding which he described as “the most nerve-racking thing” he’d ever done.

Shortly after Twist’s death was announced, #RIPRobin began trending on Twitter as fans rushed to offer Styles and his family their condolences.

Twist was a vocal supporter of stepson Styles on social media.

The news comes after Styles' former One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson lost his mum to leukaemia in December 2016.
