Harry Styles has revealed his debut single will be called Sign Of The Times, as the announcement coincided with the 30th anniversary of Prince’s album of a similar name.
The former One Direction star confirmed his first solo music will be released on April 7 in a post on Twitter.
Harry risked the wrath of fans of the Purple Rain singer by using March 31, the date his famed Sign O’ The Times record was released in 1987, to announce the news.

Fans of Prince, who died in April last year, hit out at the 23-year-old for comparing himself to the Diamonds and Pearls singer.

However, Harry’s fans leapt to his defence, with some excited he was trying to sound like the late pop superstar.

Prince’s Sign O’ The Times is regarded as one of the most acclaimed records of the second half of the 20th century, but was controversially beaten to the best album award at the 1988 Grammy’s by U2′s The Joshua Tree.
