Harry Styles steps in to host The Late Late Show as James Corden's wife goes into labour
Is there anything Harry Styles cannot do?
Not only has the been part of one of the world’s biggest boybands in One Direction and a blistering solo career; he featured in Chris Nolan WWII epic Dunkirk earlier this year, too.
Now, he’s turned his hand to hosting – specifically America’s The Late Late Show, when James Corden had to shoot off to be with his wife, Julia, who was giving birth to their baby girl prior to the show airing.
With just a few hours notice, Harry came to the rescue to present the evening show on ABC.
‘Just half an hour ago James and his wife, Jules, had a beautiful baby girl. Congratulations.
In fact, I was just at the hospital before I came to fill in, and she looks a lot like James – mainly because James looks like a giant baby.’
He kicked off the impromptu gig with a joke at Corden’s expense, much to the pleasure of the crowd.
‘I want you to know that I of course realise this is James’ show and this is a one-time only, one-time thing.
Unless CBS like what they see,’ which was followed by a cheeky wink.
Corden announced the birth of his new daughter on Twitter, and that Julia and their new child were both doing well.
Today we welcomed a beautiful baby daughter into the world. Both she and her mother are doing great. We can’t stop smiling. Thank you Harry for stepping in to host the show at 2 and a half hours notice! x x x

The show’s producer, Ben Winston, also offered his congratulations to the couple, and joked about how Harry just put the new dad out of a job.
Huge mazeltov, love and blessings to @Fulwell73 partner and brother @JKCorden & wife Jules on the birth of a baby girl & commiserations to losing his job on @latelateshow to far superior new host @Harry_Styles

It’s not the first time the former 1D singer has filled the presenter chair. In April, he co-hosted the Nick Grimshaw Breakfast Show at the BBC. He’s also opened The Late Late Show for Corden back in May, where he did short but popular monologue, much to the delight of his fans.
