Harry Styles wanted by Disney to play Han Solo in Star Wars spin-off

It’s safe to say that Harry Styles’ post-One Direction career is going from strength to strength, with the star landing an acting role in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Dunkirk’ before releasing his debut solo single last week.

Establishing himself firmly in both the music and movie world, it looks like Harry is set for a career even more glittering than it already is, and Disney are just one of the companies who tried to hone in on that star power.

Yes, according to new sources Disney bosses were desperate to sign Harry to play Han Solo in the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ spin-off, with his Hollywood debut in ‘Dunkirk’ catching the eye of execs.

Speaking to The Sun, a source explained: “Harry was one of the early names in contention when the studio looked at Han Solo.

“Even though he had virtually no acting experience, they saw he had huge star potential and would give the solo project enormous publicity.

“On initial inquiries Harry had his music career laid out and it would have been almost impossible to lock him down for the job.”

Although Harry may have lost out on the Han Solo role, Disney are apparently still keeping him in mind for future films, with the insider adding: “There has been talk at Disney about having him come in again for other projects they are considering.

“Everyone had nothing but praise for him in ‘Dunkirk’, and he and manager Jeff Azoff are carefully picking out what movie role he should take next.”

The revelation comes amid reports that Harry might miss out on the number one spot for his debut solo single, ‘Sign Of The Times’, this Friday due to a Spotify glitch.

The widely-praised track, which is reminiscent of music icons such as David Bowie and Freddie Mercury, has climbed to the top of the UK charts in terms of downloads and sales but the lack of streams means that it has dropped below Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You’ after a technical error on Spotify left fans unable to find the song.

Speaking to The Sun, a source explained: “This is a nightmare start for Harry’s solo career and his record label won’t be happy.

“The Spotify malfunction meant many of his fans simply couldn’t find his song to listen to online when they searched for it.

“The potential ramifications are big and it’s likely he has missed out on hundreds of thousands of streams as a result. That could really affect his chart position come Friday (14.04.17).

“He is Number One at the moment but that’s only because his streaming stats haven’t been included yet, and they have more weight.

“Harry’s launch is one of the industry’s biggest this year and everyone expected him to hit the ground running by topping the charts.”

Spotify have since rectified the issue, apologising to both Harry and his fans for the error.
