Harvey Weinstein Accused Of Sex Assault

Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been questioned by police over the alleged sexual assault of a 22-year-old Italian woman, according to reports.

The 63-year-old movie mogul is accused of inappropriately touching the unidentified woman at his office in Manhattan, the New York Daily News reported on Monday.

The NYPD confirmed to Sky News that a "formal complaint has been filed" and the matter is "being investigated".

The alleged incident is said to have taken place on Friday in Weinstein's office at the Tribeca Film Center.

The woman, whom the Daily News identified as a model, filed a complaint with police that same day, the newspaper said.

Weinstein's company office in Los Angeles declined to respond to Sky News' request for comment.

The New York Post, which also reported the alleged incident, cited a source close to Weinstein who said: "We believe this is a blackmail attempt, and he did nothing wrong."

Weinstein, who co-founded Miramax Films, won an Academy Award in 1998 for Shakespeare In Love.

He was also nominated for an Oscar for the Martin Scorsese hit film Gangs Of New York.

Weinstein is married to British fashion designer Georgina Chapman.
