People in Moscow expressed mixed reactions when asked by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) about Western countries sending weapons to Ukraine, footage released by Radio Free Europe shows.
Footage released by the outlet on April 29 shows a man saying he believed Western countries were sending weapons to Ukraine in order to “put pressure” on Russia.
“They don’t care about Ukrainians. They don’t care about anybody. They are only doing this for the money,” the man said, according to a translation provided by RFE/RL.
Another man said the West was sending weapons to Ukraine to prolong the war. “Why do you put firewood in a stove?” he asked, according to the translation. “To make a stronger fire.”
One woman said it was because of animosity toward Russia. "They hate Russia and want us to become weak,” she said, according to the translation. “They want to defeat Russia, but Russia is undefeatable,” she added.
