Haunting footage shows investigators entering Grenfell Tower for the first time since fatal blaze
Haunting footage has captured the moment that investigators returned to Grenfell Tower as they continue to probe the devastating fire that claimed the lives of more than 80 people.
The video shows the aftermath of the blaze – with police investigators positioned on the narrow stairwell where many lost their lives as they attempted to escape the inferno, which engulfed the entire building in 30 minutes.

Search for Grenfell Tower victims may take four months
Sergeant Alistair Hutchins, who was among the first officers from the Disaster Victim Identification Unit to enter the building, described how they will work tirelessly to find bone and teeth fragments in the hope of identifying victims.
He said: ‘They will be removing debris from those flats using sieves. All the debris from that flat is then packaged and is kept to one side and is marked with the floor number and the flat number so we identify those bags.
He also responded to the ‘frustration’ experienced by the families of the victims as a direct result of the lack of information on offer.
‘I deeply, deeply understand the frustration family members have and the answers they want’, he said.
‘All I can say is please be patient, we are doing our utmost best for you. And we are working as hard as we can.’
The footage comes shortly after new Kensington Council leader Elizabeth Campbell admitted that she had never been in a tower block – and admitted that it could take a ‘generation’ before residents trust their council again.
She said: ‘I haven’t been into the high-rise council blocks before, but I am certainly doing that now.’
