If Netflix's The Haunting of Hill House wasn't scary enough, it has just been announced that an even longer version will be released to really give us the heebie-jeebies.

The series' director Mike Flanagan responded to a report about the extended cut on his Twitter: "Well this news got out there a LITTLE earlier than we wanted... but yes, it's true!

"More details to come, but it was a blast restoring several episodes to their original form. Hope you all enjoy!"

Here's the deal though. While the extended version of one of Netflix's most popular shows is coming out, it isn't actually coming to Netflix.

Instead, the extended scenes will be exclusive to Blu-ray (remember when everyone said Blu-ray was the future of home entertainment? Good times).

Unfortunately, the darker alternate ending you might have heard about probably won't be included, since Flanagan has said that it was just something they considered rather than actually filmed.

A second season of The Haunting of Hill House is in the works, with stars from the first season returning in different roles.

Meanwhile, Mike Flanagan is also working on an interactive horror film, because normal horror films don't make you poop yourself enough as it is.

The Haunting of Hill House is available to stream now on Netflix. The Blu-rays don't have an official release date yet.
