Have You Ever Pirated Game Of Thrones? You Should Probably Worry

Pirating Game of Thrones is a very risky business - almost as risky as being a minor noble in Westeros itself.

Not only are HBO cracking down on pirates - firing out legal notices to internet service providers - but the millions who pirate the show are being hit with malware.

Security company Risk IQ said that more than 450 sites are serving up viruses to people downloading or streaming the hit fantasy.

The company analysed download and streaming sites over a 10-day period in May in America and the UK and Europe.

The researchers found the sites were serving up a mix of Trojans, spyware, scareware and phishing attacks.

Risk IQ’s Ben Harknett said, ‘We know that Game of Thrones has been the most pirated show over the past four years, so it’s patent that bad actors are cashing in on the trend.’
