Hawaii Resident Surveys Cracks and Damage After Lava Flows Through Property

Cracks caused by lava flows were reported in Puna, Hawaii, on May 22, destroying a number of homes in the area.

This footage was posted to Facebook by Tam Hunt, who told Storyful the footage shows a large crack at his neighbor’s property, as well as his own. In an article written on Medium, Hunt said he had already evacuated the property on south Moku Street after cracks formed nearby.

The cracks were caused by magma travelling underground, shifting and deforming the earth, Hawaii News Now reported. Credit: Tam Hunt via Storyful
