For those fans of Hayden Christensen's moody portrayal of Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequels (anyone?), we have some exciting news.

The actor will be joining a special panel at Star Wars Celebration for the 40th anniversary of the franchise next month.

Christensen will appear at the event on April 13 in Orlando, Florida alongside the likes of Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams and Ian McDiarmid.

The panel will be hosted by Warwick Davis and will also feature an appearance by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, who will discuss the impact of the franchise over the last 40 years with some of the series' biggest stars.

While Christensen's portrayal of the young Darth Vader in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith isn't exactly considered the best performance of the franchise by Star Wars fans, there have been rumours for a while now that he's set to make an appearance in Rian Johnson's upcoming The Last Jedi.

Whether or not the panel is setting up fans for a reintroduction of Christensen's Anakin to the franchise is anyone's guess, but at the very least it seems like it is taking the time to reinforce the link between all three trilogy series right now.

The Star Wars Celebration event recently unveiled an epic poster for its event, bringing together characters from across the three trilogies, from Anakin and Luke Skywalker to Rey and Finn from the latest movies.

The special panel will kick off the Celebration Orlando event at the Orange County Convention Centre, which will run from April 13 to April 17.

The next Star Wars movie, The Last Jedi, will hit cinemas later this year on December 15.
