Hayes crash: Elderly man fighting for life after being hit by bus in west London

An elderly man is fighting for his life in hospital after he was hit by a bus in west London.

Police taped off part of Printing House Lane in Hayes after the 72-year-old man was struck by the bus on Saturday afternoon.

Officers were called to the scene, near the junction with Botwell Lane, at 3.45pm after reports of a crash involving a route E6 bus and a pedestrian.

An air ambulance was scrambled and the injured man was airlifted to hospital. His condition is described as life-threatening.

Photos show police cars parked around the single decker bus as officers talk to people nearby.

The road remained closed for several hours while police continued to make enquiries.

No arrests have been made, a Met Police spokesman said.

Officers from the Serious Collision investigation Unit are appealing for any witnesses, especially any bus passengers that haven't spoken to police, to contact them
