A man accused of sexually assaulting and raping children of both sexes is looking at many years behind bars after being found guilty of 27 out of 29 charges against him.

Nelson Crocker was charged with 29 allegations of sexual assault, rape and attempted rape against children. Some of the charges he faced also included causing or inciting a girl and a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

The 26-year-old, of Penmare Terrace in Hayle, was accused of taking advantage of his victims in two Cornish towns within the past 20 years. He denied all charges against him and insisted in evidence during the two-week trial that his victims had made it all up and were out to make his life hell.

Over the course of the trial, the jury was told that the first complaints were made during the first Covid lockdown.

It took the jury just over half a day to find Crocker guilty on almost all counts. Members of the jury, however, found him not guilty of two charges - being under 18 and inciting a boy 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity and of being over 18 and inciting a boy 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity between the same dates.

Crocker was remanded in custody. He is due to reappear before Truro Crown Court next month for sentencing.
