Hazmat teams spotted at 'empty house' on Glasgow street amid ongoing incident

Hazmat teams have been spotted at what is believed to be an 'empty house' on a north Glasgow street amid an ongoing incident.

Emergency crews have been at the scene on Tresta Road, near Lambhill Cemetery in the north of the city, since around 6am this morning.

Three Scottish Fire and Rescue crews are believed to be at the scene alongside police as they attend the ground-floor flat which, according to locals, has had the windows covered with blue sheets.

Firefighters with breathing apparatus and Hazmat suits were seen entering the property earlier in the day. Science advisors are also believed to be at the scene.

The nature of the incident is currently unknown.

A resident told Glasgow Live: "The police were here first at 6am. There were three vans and when I got up around 9am all the fire vehicles where here. They were going in with breathing apparatus on and one with the Hazmat suit.

"They have covered the windows of the ground floor flat with blue sheets. CID are here too and the science advisor's arrived about an hour ago.

"It's an empty house."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.10pm on Thursday, 23 May, officers attended at a property in the Tresta Road area of Glasgow as part of an ongoing investigation.

“Three men, aged 29, 32 and 41 have been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were called to assist an emergency service partner at 10.24am on Friday, 24 May, at Tresta Road, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances and specialist resources to the area.

“Crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
