He DID go to Specsavers! Pensioner crashes his car right outside opticians

A pensioner had something of an ironic car crash when he smashed into a bollard – right outside a branch of Specsavers.

The unidentified driver, said to be in his 80s, was driving a blue Hyundai at the time of the crash – but it’s not clear whether or not he was wearing glasses.

However, if he needed any, then he was in the perfect place to grab a pair.

The high street optician advertises using the slogan ‘Should’ve gone to Specsavers’ when characters make embarrassing mistakes.

Pictures from the scene in Maldon, Essex, show the car with smashed front lights and the black traffic bollard almost completely knocked over.

Local residents saw the man swerve across the road before colliding with the bollard, causing significant damage to the front of the car.

Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said two passengers, a man and a woman in their 80s, were assessed at the scene but neither were injured.

Maybe they were ON their way to Specsavers – now that would be some serious irony.
