Head-banging cockatoo who taught itself to dance stuns scientists

Snowball the head-banging cockatoo has baffled scientists by his remarkable ability to dance.

The sulphur-crested cockatoo first shot to fame in 2007 after a Youtube video of him dancing to 'The Backstreet Boys' got almost two million views.

Despite never having had a dance lesson, videos show Snowball using 14 different moves - including the 'headbang', 'body role' and 'down shake'.

The findings have stunned scientists who now believe that dancing may not just be limited to humans, rather a response that arises when certain cognitive and neural capacities come together in the brain.
