Head teacher writes letter to the tooth fairy to calm boy, 5, who lost his tooth in the playground

A head teacher wrote a letter to the tooth fairy to cheer up a pupil who lost his tooth in the playground.

Harrison Townsend, five, was upset after his wobbly tooth came out and went missing in the playground at Denbury Primary School in Devon earlier this month.

But the school’s head teacher, Jamie Stone, had a plan.

He wrote a letter for Harrison to leave for the tooth fairy under his pillow that night, explaining that the tooth was missing.

In his letter, Mr Stone wrote: “Dear Tooth Fairy, I am writing to tell you that Harrison Townsend lost his tooth today.

“It fell out during playtime and he couldn’t find it on the playground.

“I am hoping that you will find this letter under his pillow tonight, instead of the tooth, and be able to forgive him for not being able to give you the tooth to turn into magic dust.

“I hope that you are well and not too busy.”

Harrison’s mother, Jade Townsend (pictured above with her son), was so pleased with the head teacher’s touching letter that she posted an image of it on her Facebook page.

She wrote: “Harry’s tooth fell out on the playground today and he couldn’t find it.

“He’s been upset for hours so the head teacher wrote a letter to the tooth fairy for him. How sweet.”

Harrison put the letter under his pillow and woke up the next morning to find £1 in its place.

He has put the money towards buying an alarm clock.
