Growing up I always adored going to all you can eat buffets, especially those with a variety of global cuisines for you to sink your teeth into.

Sometimes when trying to save time my wife and I will opt for a takeout but we can never make our minds up - often burning the half hour we hoped to save by being indecisive.

But with international buffets, there is no need to dilly dally and delay, as everything you could desire is available.

With that in mind I headed to COSMO next to the Omni Centre with my wife, son and the grandparents to sample what was on offer and eat to our hearts content.

The restaurant is like the Doctor Who Tardis, you enter through a narrow and beautifully decorated corridor before arriving at the reception and bar where the whole space opens up.

We were one of many families who decided to take in a buffet on a Saturday evening and right away you could tell it was going to be a hit with the gleeful look in kids eyes as they built mountains of food on their plates.

After getting settled and seated I opted for a pint at a cool £5, unbelievably reasonable for the city centre, especially a restaurant.

After wetting the lips our party headed up to check out the plethora of delicious dishes, all going in separate directions as if on our own reconnaissance missions.

Our son is almost two so he gravitated towards the pizza, pasta and chips which he wolfed down without hesitation.

For those of us not content with a yellow dinner with our more refined pallets, we headed towards the South East Asian section where grill masters were situated.

There was a chef who would help you create your own ramen as well as a chef who cooked up a variety of fresh meats including prawns, salmon, chicken and beef amongst many others on a hot plate.

Alongside was all your traditional Chinese, Thai and Japanese plates, from chow mein noodles to sweet and sour chicken and all the classics you can imagine - all of which were amazing.

We then targeted the Indian section with our second plate and filled ourselves up with bhajis, pakoras, curries and an abundance or rice with naan.

The Asian sections were absolutely faultless and me and the grandpa ended up going back a third time before setting our sights on dessert.

Baba (granny) is not one for your traditional takeaway style dishes and has always been one to opt for the healthier options, with fresh veg and sushi more her cup of tea, and she was not disappointed.

All five of us made sure to leave some room for the desserts and as my son turned the corner to the sweet treats his eyes lit up like Christmas morning.

An array of cheesecakes, baked goods, ice cream and even a chocolate fountain was enough to make your head spin and our already exercised bellies rumble.

Restaurants often say there is something for everyone but never has it been truer for COSMO.

We loved the evening out and it was so stress free being in an environment where other young children were having fun without the glaring eyes of judgmental diners.

The Italian pasta and pizza was not necessarily to my taste but the son absolutely loved it and kept going back for more.

Every other section however was fantastic with some of the dishes outshining some of the premier takeaways I’ve sampled in the city.
