Heanor house fire: Firefighters tackle blaze sending plumes of smoke into sky

Firefighters are tackling a house fire in a Derbyshire street after a blaze erupted this afternoon. Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service are dealing with an incident in Park Street, Heanor, with people being urged to avoid the area this evening.

Fire crews were first called to the scene, which lies near the A6007 Loscoe Road, at around 3.46pm on Thursday (November 21). A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Firefighters are currently dealing with a house fire on Park Street in Heanor.

"999 control operators received a call to attend the incident at 15.46 hours. One male occupant was out of the property on arrival of fire crews. Please avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident."

An onlooker says a fire engine was in attendance on Thursday afternoon as efforts to extinguish the blaze continued, with thick plumes of smoke being sent into the air.
